Using Maktab

  • Maktab is provided by the operator of Maktab to Maktabs (schools) and the people they invite: administrators, teachers, parents, guardians and students.
  • Keep your password private, use two-factor sign-in if you can, and tell your Maktab if you think your account has been misused.
  • Only enter information you are allowed to share, and be respectful in messages. A Maktab can suspend accounts that are misused.
  • How your data is used is explained in the privacy notice.

Data processing terms for Maktabs (GDPR art. 28)

When a Maktab uses the software, the Maktab is the controller and the operator of Maktab is its processor. By using Maktab, the Maktab and the operator of Maktab agree that the operator of Maktab:

  • processes personal data only to provide the service and on the Maktab’s documented instructions (the settings and actions it uses in the app);
  • ensures that people with access are bound by confidentiality;
  • applies appropriate security measures: encryption in transit, hashed passwords, optional two-factor sign-in, role- and tenant-based access control, audit logging and backups;
  • uses only the sub-processors listed below, under equivalent data-protection terms, and gives notice before adding or replacing one so the Maktab can object;
  • helps the Maktab answer data subject requests — the app provides export, correction, anonymisation, consent records and a request queue with deadlines;
  • notifies the Maktab without undue delay after becoming aware of a personal-data breach affecting its data, with the information needed for its own notification duties;
  • helps with data-protection impact assessments and consultations where needed;
  • deletes or returns the Maktab’s data when the service ends, unless law requires storage — a Maktab can export its data at any time;
  • makes available the information needed to demonstrate compliance and allows for reasonable audits.

Current sub-processors: Supabase, Vercel, Resend, Sentry (or compatible), Upstash, Stripe.

Availability and changes

We aim to keep Maktab available and secure, but cannot guarantee it is free of interruptions. When these terms change in a way that matters, users are asked to accept them again.
